Looking to get the most out of your life and your college education? Hit the world of academics with a firmly focused part time stance and you'll strike balance and increase your skill set, preparing yourself for all kinds of happiness and accomplishments. There are many advantages to focusing on a part time college experience, not the least of which is the notion that you'll have more time to concentrate on your life as a whole, and less opportunity for school to become a burden and immense pressure. Anything done to excess can cause severe burnout and frustration; school is at the top of this dangerous list. By taking on a challenging part-time educational program, you'll simply be setting yourself up for a rewarding success.

Time is a precious commodity for all of us. It's a fact of life that the majority of students going back for a bachelor's or advanced degree don't have the luxury of focusing full time on their studies and parlaying the workforce. While some see this as disadvantageous, there is a long and distinguished list of reasons why part time education is by far the superior focus. When you devote yourself to a full time academic career, all other areas of your life suffer -- it's the law of averages. School is more than just time spent on campus and in the classroom; there are hours and hours of homework and related studies required as well. Taking this on in a part time capacity still grants enough time to balance the other areas of your life. You can maintain a family and close relationships with greater ease, not to mention hold down a job that can assist you in paying for the education. You're also a lot less likely to burnout and throw in the towel; it's a simple fact that a great number of students quit before obtaining their desired degree, and while a part time student still faces all the same pressures and challenges, they face them in smaller numbers.

As a part time student, you can also more easily prevent the normal trappings of a college education. Dropouts and poor grades often spring from a more relaxed, party-focused attitude. Part time students focused on both studying and working release themselves from the constraints of a full time college mode, and often are able to circumvent the constant partying and supreme wastes of time. This is not to say that as a part timer you won't be having fun; quite the opposite. In this fashion, however, you'll be able to more appropriately choose when play time is right, and not be sucked into the constant conveyor belt of beer drinking and partying. Balance is a critical component of every human being's life; learning to weigh education, career, personal relationships, and play time in equal doses is an invaluable ability -- a part time college student learns this right out of the gate.
